The Great Indian Dream

Yesterday, over a casual talk with friends, we were wondering how America got to a stage where it is now. The amount of power, authority, respect it has in the world. Iam a novice in American's history yet i have heard and read , so as per my knowledge, i assume that America consists more of immigrants than its original inhabitants. And according to me, what propelled America to its current state is "The Great American Dream". The Dream which ensures equal rights to all immigrants who came to America for a living.,.

According to wiki, The American Dream is belief in the freedom that allows all citizens and residents of the United States to achieve their goals in life through hard work. and believe me, i believe that it has done more than a miracle for America. What initially started as an idea has evolved more to a firm belief amongst everyone and now through countless re-affirmations, it is more than a belief.

It is a way of life for American people. To quote an instance, if we take movies like The Independence Day,The Armageddon, it is America which comes to other people's rescue.,. My point is that we had reached a stage wherein everybody looks to America for resolving the World's problems.,

Now, my question is about the Great Indian Dream.,. I just got this thought about what could our fore-fathers had dreamt for our land.,. To my surprise, there isn't anything called The Indian Dream. We are the world's biggest democracy and we are a land of diverse cultures and entities. We have been blessed with so many empowered leaders and yet we are yet to have something called a Indian Dream. I don't mean that unless we have something called a Indian Dream,we wont be able to develop. Its not that. Its like providing a vision to the upcoming generations. Something one can look up to and say that yes, i have to live to achieve that vision.

In case of America, its the dream and the belief of making a successful living on the basis of one's effort and the reputation that America will never disappoint anyone who has a dream to make it big.,. In that case, it makes me wonder what does our country promises to people who reside here.

I would like to say what i mean by the Indian Dream.,. It's a belief, a vision which enables a country's citizen to be confident, to be united and to work unitedly for a common purpose. One can call it patriotism, Yet i feel that it has become more of a cliche.,. The Dream are a integral part of our everyday life, which motivates us and propels us in every sphere of our life.,. Is Cricket and disasters(natural & man-made) the only things which will continue to unite us.,. We need a common vision which runs across the everyday life of all Indians.

May it be work, personal or social.,. People say that one should have goals.,. Many of us must have heard about the famous line from Alice in WonderLand, which goes like this.

“Which road do I take?" (Alice)

"Where do you want to go?"

"I don't know," Alice answered.

"Then, said the cat, it doesn't matter.”

“If you don't know where you are going, any road will get you there.”

When we place such importance in having goal in one's life, its more important then we have some belief's,visions to guide us in real life. I know that governments, constitutions are made for that purpose,Yet its more of a subconscious belief which makes you belief that this country will be for you. In contrast, tell me how many people really belief in our country ideal values and its judicial process.,. There have been sparse instances where in judiciary was able to mete justice, yet there have been so many contrasting instances where the justice was blinded, injustice reigning over the truth.,.

It would be an iniquitous on my part, if i fail to mention the role of few leaders who have served as a beacon light for the masses. Taking our ever inspiring Ex-President, Mr.APJ Abdul Kalam, his Vision 2020 for India had much more implications for India than one can think of. By ennumerating his vision for India by 2020 and by sharing it with the masses as his Dream, we have something to unify us.,. For the first time after the Independence Struggle, all of the Indians have something in common to think about. About the goals to be achieved in our quest to become a SuperPower, About the changes that has to be initiated for a balanced
growth.,.

If one can go back in time, the speech delivered by Martin Luther King.Jr ""I Have A Dream"" is considered a classic. And it is regarded as a classic not only because the words were inspiring, but also because his speech gave the people the vision to look ahead into future and visualize a future which will treat everyone equally. By speaking the way he did, he educated, he inspired, he informed not just the people there, but people throughout America and unborn generations.

We are a country fast approaching the status of a SuperPower in coming days.,. But a country is defined a SuperPower not only based on its economic might but also the status of its true resources, its People. India's capability to inspire, motivate, and uplift everyone's vision , as well as their life, is what is going to define our-self in coming days.,.And for that our Indian Dream has to be Broad, Big and inclusive of everyone.
