The Influential Person in the Last Century !!

I was conversing with one of my friends when the topic of conversation changed to 'Who is the Influential figure in the world in the last century', as in which person by his actions, words has impacted the world the most which has motivated or inspired everyone to live a new life... As i began to ponder on this, i felt that i couldn't really reason out any single individual as an influential person in the last century.... I had many choices among great leaders,actors,military rules in the last century etc...

I shared this with some of my close friends asking their opinion. It was interesting to hear their views, as to who they considered influential and the reason for the same.Not only it helped me know in depth about some leaders, i also got to know new people's names, who i never thought would be considered as an Influential person.

All said , now my purpose of writing this article here is to let know of your opinion. I request all who would read this passage to share who you think is the Influential person and why do you think so.

I excited to know your thoughts on this and i will share my subsequent learnings in future post...

Have fun and Keep influencing !! :)

Honestly, if you are looking for a challenging post to write and a lively debate, I would suggest the leader of Germany in 1930's-40's.
WWII, USA, Atomic Weapons, Cold War, unstable Middle-East, India's independence, all lead to him.
(Also read: Godwin's law... I fail)

Otherwise, if you are looking for a softer person, it will be very tough choice, but I would suggest either FDR(Great Depression and WWII victory), JFK(Cuban Missile Crisis, Space Race, Vietnam War, Civil rights)or Mahatma Gandhi(singlehandedly bringing down all of the British Empire)

I'd say that it is really difficult to come up with a single person 'coz it really is a matter of opinions. And anything that arises out of opinions cannot be a deciding factor. There should be some set standards for defining it and then again there are various aspects like civil rights, environment, education. Wow, this is getting difficult for me. I am gonna have to think hard!

@Towards reclamation: He was influential in his own ways, certainly by bringing together known enemies the Allied Powers. Thank You for your comment.

@Bins: Very wise words. I liked the part about 'Opinions cant be a deciding factor'. Would love to hear your opinion. Thank You for your comment.

@Sundar: Einstein as in the Genuis who revolutionized the equations of relativity. I had read somewhere that Einstein's achievement has been over exaggerated more coz, he opposed Hitler and hence it was his opinions (Einstein's) which sparked the whole attention on him. No offence to Eistein. He is one of the greatest scientist to have lived, but we do have scientist with equal achievements and brilliance... Thank You for your comment.

@PS
I didn't want to mention his name, but it is what the second commenter has mentioned too.

@Santosh
Wonderful... here's a great suggestion to alienate readers rather than opening your ideas and thoughts to the whole world. Fantastic isn't it to come up with words of wisdom - alas - they are in a language few understand.
What you fail to mention, is that it should also be transliterated, preferably, to English.

i would say Hitler...unfortunately he had the most influence in the last century...after reading about the Holocaust anybody would find it hard to not detest and loathe him to the core...

Do you all know that Hitler's major influence was the Armenian Killings that happened in 1915 by the Ottoman Turks headed by the Pasha Family. Two Million Armenians were killed.
So if you call him an influential person , then it can be disproved by routing it to the barbarism of thr Turks.

As aptly put across by Bins, it is impossible to single out the most influential person . Time always comes out with 100 most influential people of the century. You can check that out .

Hey ,
i m sharing the link, which makes mention of the fact that Hitler was inspired by the Armenian genocide.

@Santhosh: Thanks for the suggestion buddy. At the same time, as Charlie has said,its better to reach across to a vast populace of people... However the mother tongue will remain as unique as ever for every individual.

Prashant Sree said...

@Charlie:You gave the solution as well. Thumbs Up !! ;)

Prashant Sree said...

@mou: Very true. Hitler's reign will be remembered in the aeons of the history.

@Shyam:Thanks buddy for sharing the link... Never knew that such a holocaust had taken place.. The terrors that were perpetrated is unbelievable and unimaginable... Both the crimes are a botch in the humanity history.

I would also go with Hitler. Everyone else, including Lenin, Gandhi, Churchill etc. had a regional influence. But Hitler's actions and the result of his influence was felt globally. He was a strategist and could manage external affairs exceptionally. In fact, his two initial conquests came about just by propaganda stunt and not going to the war at all! His involvement in the Genocide led to his ultimate collapse. If not, all those people would have fought for him!!
